Eid Ul Fitr:

After accomplishing one month of ‘Siyam or Roja’ in Ramadan, Eid Ul Fitr comes full of joy. Everyone waits with excitement to see the moon on the eve of Eid.
On the morning of Eid, Muslims take a bath, put on new clothes, and eat sweet food. Then they put an attar on their clothes and go to the mosque to say Eid prayers. In this country, the biggest Eid prayer (Eid Salah) is held on Eidgah at “Sholakiya Moydan” located in Kishorganj.
At the end of the prayer, they cuddle with each other. Everyone goes to friends, relatives, and neighbors’ houses. Also, many of them go to different parks or cinema halls to watch movies. Kids have too much fun on this Eid day.
Eid Ul Adha:
Eid Ul Adha is another biggest festival event for Muslims in Bangladesh. Eid Ul Adha is also called “Qurbani Eid”. This miraculous story of this sacrifice is told in the 37th chapter of the Holy Qur’an. Eid begins with a special prayer on the morning of Eid.
On this Eid day, Muslims sacrifice animals in the name of Allah. For Eid Ul Adha, the animal must be halal and sacrificed in a halal way. It is a part of Qurbani and Eid joy. Muslims prepared their animals for Qurbani. Here, whoever can afford it, sacrifices animals. Many people buy multiple animals and sacrifice them on the day after Eid.
The sacrificial meats are divided into certain portions. These meat are distributed among the poor, relatives, and neighbors. They also eat the meat of Qurbani. Durga Puja:
Durga Puja is the biggest religious festival for the Hindu community. Hindus perform this puja with great joy and devotion. According to Hindu scriptures, this festival is celebrated as the victory of Goddess Durga against Mahisasur. It starts from the Bengali month of Ashwin and the puja lasts for 10 days. In Dhaka, large celebrations of puja are held at Dhakeshwari Temple.
At this time a temporary pandal is built in a splendid way where the Durga idol is placed. The Drum (known as Dhak) adds to the festive spirit. The festival ends on the 10th day known as “Vijayadashami”. All Hindus hold social gatherings with family, relatives, and friends. They also organize religious songs and dances in temples.
There is an interesting occasion during this puja called “Rong Khela”. On the occasion of this festival, they celebrate this day by expressing joy and painting each other’s faces. Then the Durga Puja ends with the dedication of the Durga idol in the Buriganga River. They come home with peace and devotion.
Buddha Purnima:

In 476 BC, history was changed tremendously on this day because a great soul was born named Goutam Buddha at Kapilavastu. Before being enlightened he was known as “Siddhartha”. Buddhists celebrate his birthday every year according to the Gregorian calendar. Buddha Jayanti is the other name of Buddha Purnima. This day is observed magnificently. All Buddhists wake up early in the morning on this day, take a bath to purify themselves, and clean the house. Then they follow all kinds of rituals dedicated to the festival.
They also enjoy the full day with family, friends, and relatives. On this day they decorate the house with flowers. They light candles and pour milk around the Bodhi tree. It is said that Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment under this Buddha tree. So the importance of this tree is great for Buddhists.
Christmas Day:
In Bangladesh, Christmas Day is also known as “Boro Din”. Jesus Christ was born on Christmas day. On this day Christians celebrate their religious festivals in a big way. Their Christmas date is 25 December. On this day, Christians decorate their house with ribbons, lights, and flowers.
Their main fascination is the Christmas tree. These Christmas trees are available in shops. Red ribbons and coins are hung on the Christmas tree. They consider it auspicious. The tree is also decorated with fruits and lamps. At Christmas party night, everyone including relatives, friends are invited and everyone expresses a lot of joy together.
